Theo Delaney’s Love Letter To British Tennis

Theo Delaney returns to documentary with this short portrait of the remarkable Margaret Winnett of Andover Tennis Club. Commissioned by the Lawn Tennis Association to promote its annual volunteer awards, the film conveys the heartwarming community spirit that is engendered by the volunteer culture that permeates sport the length and breadth of the country.

Theo started his career as a journalist and has always loved making documentaries especially sporting ones. He’s made films on Manchester United great Eric Cantona and the history of Tottenham Hotspur as well as the BTA Award winning series of humorous micro-documentaries for Coca Cola on the chairmen of lower league football clubs.

For this latest film he embedded his small, two-camera crew in the club over its annual finals weekend and by the time he left he’d ‘fallen in love with the place’.

Editors were The Assembly Room’s Simon Hargood and Joan Gill who cut a series of Instagram videos to run as part of the same campaign. The DP was Ben Butler, audio post was by Tom Heddy at Wave and the grade was by Vic Parker at Raised By Wolves.
