Hotspur & Argyle Kieron Hawkes directs Not Safe for Work
Kieron Hawkes, newly signed to the Hotspur & Argyle roster, is the director behind Channel 4’s outstanding new comedy drama Not Safe for Work which aired this week to a buzz that verged on the cacophonous.
Not Safe for Work has already been compared to the seminal This Life and Peep Show by The Guardian. Set in a relocated government department in Northampton, the darkly comic show stars Zawe Ashton of Fresh Meat fame battling the twisted bureaucracy and dysfunction of the civil service.
After starting as an editor, Kieron cut his directing teeth on Channel 4’s hilarious The Mimic starring Terry Mynott and Neil Maskell. He made his first feature film, Piggy, in 2012 which, following its theatrical release, went on to be among the most popular on demand titles for Sky in 2013.
Since then he’s also directed the BBC’s hugely successful Ripper Street garnering attention in America before taking charge of Not Safe for Work.
Chuffed Hotspur & Argyle supremo Danny Fleet says: ‘Kieron combines a deft touch for performance with considerable technical prowess so he’s perfect for commercials. We are euphoric to have got him.’
